At Matt Talbot, we have many different volunteer opportunities!

Volunteer positions include, but are not limited to:

  • Hunger Relief

    • Serving meals for our guests

      • Provide, Prepare & Serve: Teams purchase ingredients, prepare the meal, and serve it. This option helps Matt Talbot reduce food costs and invest more in housing and case management services.

      • Pay & Serve: Teams make a $300 donation to cover food costs, and Matt Talbot staff prepare the meal while volunteers serve.

      • Sides & Serve: Teams provide side dishes while Matt Talbot prepares the main entrée, allowing for partial coverage of meal costs.

    • Helping organize and run our Fresh Choice Food Pantry

    • Helping maintain our Hope Garden

  • Daily Operations

    • Lunch & dinner scanners

    • Shower and laundry volunteers

    • Reception help

Volunteers are the backbone of so much of what we do at Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach. Whether it is purchasing ingredients, preparing food, serving a meal, helping at the reception desk, working in the garden, or hosting a donation drive or special event-- we are so thankful for our volunteers!

Ongoing Volunteer Sign-Up

Applications are currently being accepted for ongoing volunteers! An ongoing volunteer is someone who serves on a recurring basis at the same or similar times each week/month. We have several different types of recurring volunteer opportunities available below.

Garden Volunteers

Garden volunteers help grow fresh produce used in our meals and pantry. Tasks may include planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, and general garden upkeep. This is a great opportunity to work outdoors while supporting healthy food access for our community. If interested, please fill out the sign up form via the button below.

Laundry/Shower Volunteers

Laundry/Shower volunteers assist guests in accessing clean clothing and shower services. Responsibilities may include checking in guests, distributing supplies, monitoring laundry machines, and helping maintain a clean and welcoming space. This role helps restore dignity and meet basic needs. If interested, please email Victoria at victoria.o’neil@mtko.org to see our current volunteer position availability.

Reception Volunteers

Reception volunteers are often the first point of contact for guests and visitors. Duties include greeting individuals, answering phones, directing questions, and helping with basic administrative tasks. This role is key to creating a welcoming and organized environment. If interested, please email Victoria at victoria.o’neil@mtko.org to see our current volunteer position availability.

Diversion Service

Volunteer applications are currently being accepted for Diversion Services. Please click on the link below to complete the required application.

General Volunteer Application

General volunteer applications are currently closed, but if you are interested in starting a new Hunger Relief team, please email Victoria at victoria.oneil@mtko.org. Matt Talbot has several recurring openings for meal teams in 2026. Volunteer teams may choose from three options:

  • Provide, Prepare & Serve: Teams purchase ingredients, prepare the meal, and serve it. This option helps Matt Talbot reduce food costs and invest more in housing and case management services.

  • Pay & Serve: Teams make a $300 donation to cover food costs, and Matt Talbot staff prepare the meal while volunteers serve.

  • Sides & Serve: Teams provide side dishes while Matt Talbot prepares the main entrée, allowing for partial coverage of meal costs.

Thank you!
