Safe Refuge During Dangerous Weather Conditions

The dining room at Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach will be open this week from 8:30 am – 6:30 pm for anyone needing safe shelter from the near record-breaking and bitterly cold sub-zero temperatures and wind chills. Though normally closed on Thursday afternoons for street outreach and team meetings, the facility will remain open this week due to the inclement weather. Prepared hot meals will be served every day from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm and 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm. Guests will also have access to snacks, water, coffee, showers, and laundry services. Outreach staff will be available to assist with meeting other basic needs and making sure guests have a plan for safe overnight shelter.

“We provide meals, outreach services, and refuge from outside elements in every season,” said Alynn Sampson, Executive Director. “But the weather this week has brought dangerous conditions, especially for people experiencing homelessness, and we want the community to know that we are here to help.”
