Matt Talbot Celebrates a Year of Increasing Impact

Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (MTKO) is a hunger relief and outreach center for the homeless and near-homeless with four main areas of focus: relieving hunger, defeating homelessness, addressing addiction, and providing outreach. Last year more than 42,000 outreach and prevention services were provided (a 34% increase from 2020) and a total of 2,318 unduplicated clients were served (an increase of 36% from 2020).

“Thanks to our wonderful volunteers and donors we have been able to serve more people throughout these hard times,” says Susanne Blue, Executive Director of MTKO. “It is a ministry of compassion and love and we are grateful to be able to provide these services.”

MTKO provides two meals 365 days a year to individuals and families in need, with volunteers providing, preparing, and serving the majority of the meals. Last year volunteers contributed 16,882 hours of service and provided nearly 60,000 meals. Additionally, over 400 emergency food pantries were given out, which equates to approximately 2,800 meals. During meal times, staff are available in the dining room to provide outreach and assistance to guests. Services available include case management, assistance with acquiring vital identification documents, housing, substance use services and support, message and mail services for those who are homeless, shower and laundry services, and assistance with basic and emergency needs.
