Kwik Shop Raises Over $7,000 for Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach

Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (MTKO) was recently presented with a check for $7,324.84 from Kwik Shop. Kwik Shop stores in the Lincoln conducted a fundraiser during the month of August where employees asked customers to donate a dollar or their change to MTKO. In addition to raising money, employees from the Kwik Shop store on N. 27th & W Streets volunteered at Matt Talbot during the summer months by serving an evening meal, helping at a foot clinic, spreading mulch in HOPE Community Garden, and holding a garage sale to benefit Matt Talbot.

“The Kwik Shop employees showed so much enthusiasm and spirit for our mission – it provided a huge boost to us,” said Sara Sunderman, Outreach Specialist. “We are incredibly thankful for the support of Kwik Shop, their employees, and their generous customers. The amount of money they were able to raise in 31 days is pretty amazing.”

Serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach is a hunger relief and outreach center for those in need. Last year Matt Talbot provided 102,897 nutritious meals to the hungry in Lincoln and provided over 21,000 homeless prevention services such as transitional housing, case management, drug & alcohol evaluations, life skills classes, nutrition counseling, and help with obtaining vital identification documents.
