New Guest Policies at MTKO

New Guest Policies at MTKO!
By Susanne Blue

This past July we began implementing new policies for our guests who come each day for meals and homeless prevention services. Our main goals in doing this were to provide a safer, welcoming and consistent experience for our guests, volunteers and staff. We hoped to provide more clarity to gray areas and we wanted to clearly convey to our guests the expectations we had for their behavior while at our facility. We also became more firm with our efforts to reduce substance use around the facility in the hope that perhaps we could intervene and offer tangible services that would lead those who struggle in this area toward treatment. So far we feel the transition has gone fairly well. The staff has put a great deal of time and effort into this process and it hasn’t always been easy. And our scanning volunteers are to be commended for their diligent service as we now require cards for the meal service, which is a grant requirement for funding. We will continue to monitor our progress toward these goals and update you from time to time. If you are interested, a copy of the policies can be provided at your request and are posted throughout the facility. In the mean time, please keep us in your prayers and good thoughts. And thanks for your support of MTKO!
